A Unique Experience in Andorra: NUA, the Immersive Theater Everyone’s Talking About

Did you know that Andorra, known for its mountainous landscapes and sports opportunities, also offers unique cultural experiences? If you’re looking for something different to do during your stay in Andorra, don’t miss, this November 16 and 17, NUA, an immersive theater production that tackles deeply relevant and necessary topics, such as cyberbullying and the implications of artificial intelligence on personal privacy.

Here’s why “NUA” is a cultural event you should add to your itinerary in Andorra.

What is “NUA” about?

NUA is an immersive theater piece that explores the devastating consequences of cyberbullying and “revenge porn,” telling the story of a young woman who suffers the consequences of the non-consensual distribution of intimate material, becoming a victim of digital aggression. The play examines how bystanders’ complicity and society’s inaction can legitimize these aggressions, leading to widespread public humiliation.

This unique show goes beyond presenting these issues; it creates an experience where the audience plays an active role. Inspired by Marina Abramovich’s “Rhythm 0” and Duncan MacMillan’s “Every Brilliant Thing,” it pushes the audience’s interaction and complicity to the extreme, creating a bond through play and interaction. Through a series of interconnected scenes, attendees become participants, torn between complicity and action, in a performance aimed at raising social awareness.

Where can I see “NUA”?

The play will premiere on November 16 at 6:00 pm and 7:30 pm, and on Sunday, November 17 at 5:00 pm and 6:30 pm at the Feréstec hall of the Animal school in Escaldes (Av. De les Escoles, 31. Escaldes-Engordany).

A New Kind of Theater in Andorra

Immersive theater is an innovative theatrical experience that’s rare to find, and in Andorra, NUA pioneers this format. The audience becomes complicit in the story, witnessing and actively participating in the storyline. As the play progresses, spectators find themselves immersed in a situation where their passivity or intervention may alter the course of the story.

One of NUA’s most striking features is its double ending. Depending on the audience’s reaction, the play concludes differently, making each performance a unique experience, where the ending depends on the audience’s actions or inactions, reflecting how silence and passivity can perpetuate abuse and power dynamics in the real world.

Why Watch “NUA” in Andorra?

1. A unique cultural experience: NUA offers a one-of-a-kind theater experience in Andorra, where the viewer becomes an active part of the narrative.

2. Relevant theme: The play addresses highly relevant social issues, such as digital violence, privacy, and consent in the age of artificial intelligence. It aims to raise awareness and promote reflection on these important topics.

3. Theatrical innovation: In NUA, theater and reality intertwine in an innovative way, blurring the line between fiction and reality, creating an unforgettable immersive show.

4. Social impact: Beyond just a performance, the play aims to be a tool for social transformation. With this production, the creators of NUA hope to raise awareness among attendees and open a space for debate on individual and collective responsibility in the face of cyberbullying and digital violence.

A Future-Focused Initiative

NUA is an innovative project created by Elena Santiago that is not only limited to theater in its current version for adults; the creators plan to expand the play to other audiences. In 2025, they plan to tour high schools in Andorra and Catalonia, adapting the play’s subject for young audiences and promoting awareness-raising activities about digital violence.

The production, which is supported by the Andorran Ministry of Culture and Sports and the Institut Andorrà de les Dones, also represents a collaborative effort and features a mostly female artistic team, with a strong presence of professionals from Andorra and Catalonia.
